CAT C/ CAT D

Hi,

Can anyone tell me does a trader legally have to tell you if a car they are selling is a cat d/ cat c?

Legally it should be declared and have the proper paper work with it yes.

Probably would go back to the trader first.

i believe normally cat c/d vehicles will be given a check by VOSA/DVLA to make sure thye road worthy with the repairs made to the vehicle so their should be documentation advising the check was carried out

You're going to be in trouble when you come to sell it, you'll only get about £475 for it I reckon.

I'm glad this came up - I was looking at this ad today for a Porsche Cayman S, advertised as a CAT D but the seller says no damage was incurred ? Why would an insurance company CAT D it if it was undamaged ?

As it says stolen-recovered. Ie it was recovered after the insurance paid out.

The trader should have told you, but get the car checked out to make sure it's roadworthy.

Like i said, go back to the trader and talk to him.

Cat D doesn't necessarily mean it's had major damage, just means it was damage worth more than the car. Cat C i'd be concerned about.

Cat D can be put straight back on the road after an MoT.
Cat C requires a check from Vosa.

Hardly, if it works, has no faults and isnt falling to bits it was probably a good buy at 500 quid whatever it is.

What age/year/type of car is it?
