Cat insurance

go with More than

have had several claims, 1 of £4000 and no problem paying out with any of them

an their address makes me laugh too ;)

I was (still am somehow) with Tesco (Royal Sun Alliance or some other) for my cat. She ran away whilst I was travelling (my housemates were equal in looking after her) and when found cost me £700 in vets bills. Tesco were brilliant. I filled in one form whilst I was in Oz and had the payment in my account days later.

No complaints regarding them.

My parents have petplan for their dog and they're decent enough, not sure about cats but worth a look anyway.

8 cats on Tesco here, have had no problems claiming yet. (other half is a veterinary nurse so things generally get done for free anyway at her practice)

Read through the T&C's and make sure the policy includes "Treatment for life".
Basically it means that should your cat get a long-term illness, he/she will be covered for life as long as you keep paying the premiums.
Many will cease treatment after a year and you'll never get insurance on an existing complaint.

It's not as simple as that though, you also have to take into account the cost of that policy and the odds of the cat getting a disease that required long term care.

That's a decision you have to make.

Treatment for life and treatment for 1 year policies are more or less the same price if you shop around.
It's a simple matter of choosing a company that offers the "for life" option over the ones that stop paying after a year.

It's a no-brainer really.
What you going to do if your cat gets a long-term illness?
Keep it going for a year on the insurance and then have him/her put down because of the ongoing monthly med bills?
I know I couldn't operate in the manner.

Thanks for the input guys, I've had him since June and it's taken to him now having his 2nd night in the vets to me getting my arse in gear and sorting some insurance out for him :o

Be aware that mode insurance won't cover pre existing conditions. We use;

http://www.animalfriends.org.uk/

We have their for live cover and they donate several 100k a year to the rescue centres. We've had claims for both cats over the 4 years we've had them, some over £1000 at a time and had no issues.
