cat kill rabbit

I woke up one morning and let the cat in and found 3 dead rabbits in the back garden  All lined up on the patio.

They were black so blatantly someone's pets too :o :p

He was only 2 at the time as well. :p

Anyone know how cats fare vs foxes? Loads of foxes roaming the streets where I live.

I can't see a fox being able to kill a cat. The cat would defend itself and then probably leg it.

I saw my cat drag a dead Hare (sp?) which was 2x size of my cat down the street which it had killed!

But a Magpie owns any cat - Ive seen one almost kill a cat :(

this has realy changed my ways about cats,i feed my next door nebourghs cat when they go on hoilday and i have a staffey which always is trying to get at the cat.
luckley the cat sits on my garrage roof but reading this my staffey would be safe on the roof.

our old cat dragged a half dead seagull through the cat flap years ago :/ broke the cat flap in the process

also there was an escaped rabbit in our garden before and we let the brutal cat out to see what it would do

he crawled across the whole garden on its belly

got within half a metre of this HUGE rabbit ( easily as big as our cat ) we thought "crap the cats actually gunna get it"

cat jumps... bang! rabbit kicks cat in head , cat runs away , rabbit continues eating

dont think he ever went hunting rabbits again lol

have no doubt that he could have caught a smaller rabbit mind

If you've never seen it in 40 years then you've led a very sheltered life.
My cat when I was young caught numerous rabbits and huge crows, we didn't exactly live in a rural area either.

Our cat has left a dead rabbit in the kitchen before.

What I find most impressive is he would have had to somehow get the thing through his cat flap, yet he managed to do it.

Last nights tally for my two tom cats was:

1x vole
2x field mice
1x crow (smallish one)
1x random small bird
1x SEAGULL <- yes a bloomin seagul although I've no idea if they actually managed to kill it or if they just picked up some roadkill (wouldn't be the first time.)

Cats are hunters, my lot bring in at least half a dozen "presents" a week, sometimes a dozen a night and we live in central Glasgow :D

Aren't voles and field mice rare?

A Fox will kill a cat, but the cat will put up a hell of a fight, the Fox won't walk away without a scratch.

Our rabbit was a mean, horny old git though, all the neighbourhood cats would walk around our garden rather than walk through it and risk getting humped by a great big randy rabbit.

Yeah I've let a few voles go that were lucky enough still to be alive when they brought them in (we're near the river clyde). I'm assuming they're field mice and not house mice but it could be either as there's plenty of open land near here now thanks to things being knocked down :(

Some cats are extremely aggressive though. Our cat chases foxes and they are terrified of him. If it came to a fight though, I'm not sure what would happen.

Weve got 2 cats and a dog, all get along and most mornings theirs at least a few birds/mice never anything like a rabbit or anything, they never eat it or anything just rip it to shreds and leave it in our kitchen.

i know someone who's rabbits were killed because cats clawed at them through the gaps in the cage and tore them apart
