Cat problems

maybe she doesnt know its not a stray as it doesnt have a collar? so she's just sorta decided to take ownership of your cat!

get a 500m length of fishing line, and tie it to the collar of your cat.

If you start worrying about the cat being in the hands of your neighbour, then simply "reel" him back in! :)

I had same thing, woman down road catnapped or cat and said we obviously don't look after it properly as it was always outside her door. I told her repeatedly that because you feed it smoked salmon on a silver platter, and asked her to chuck him out.....then she accused me of bullying.

now whe rings on our door bell and said she has found the cat again, and she stands there an just cuddle hims cooing....I told her to leave it out. Lonesome 50 year old who is the streets pain in the butt (many have had problems). Eventually we managed to get her to fit a magnetic cat-flap for her own cat, but I saw our one being let in....trouble is you can get REALLY irratioanal over this - I was searching for stealthy cat-cams in collars to see If I could get it on film, or even raid her house to find him in the front room on her lap lol

seems to have calmed down a bit now as last time I made it really clear that I wouldn't take any more of this nonsense (and watched my windows in case the police turned up!)

let us know what happens

Yeah, just go and speak to her... she probably doesnt even know

everyone loves to feed my cat because hes so friendly... plus he pretty much just walks into everyones house anyway

Well did approach her today, thought I was quite diplomatic over it.

Asked her if she had been feeding black and white fluffy cat and she admitted. I asked, politely, if she could not do it because my wife and I were naturally worried for his welfare with him not turning up, and of course I'd like to know exactly what he's been fed should he need to go to the vet.

Also told her that we occasionaly go away at the weekends and obviously take our cat to the cattery for a few days and we don't want to be going up and down the streets at night looking for him (where he usually comes if we call him), if he's tucked away in her house.

At first she was quite nice over it, but then got funny saying if it's raining and he's outside she will let him in. I said that's not really a problem, I appreciate her giving him a warm bed, but to let him out on a morning and NOT to feed him (please), whereby I then got the "My house I'll do what I want" attitude.

Y'know it's no major thing, there's millions of people in the world with more problems than this, but it's just so annoying when you're wondering where the hell your pet is and what he's been given.

He's been in and out of our house all day, so whether he's not bothered going down or not I don't know, but time will tell, but I can imagine she's gonna be a stroppy cow over it.

Is your cat chipped?

If she gets stroppy, the you get stroppy too...let her know where you stand on it directly - i.e. you won't stand for it.....as I said the only way we drummed this into our own stroppy cow down the road was to tell her straight

I know what you mean also about all the other problems, but I remember our situation it really got to me, like a slap in the face that she had the gall to think that we didn't take care of our cat etc....

I would be annoyed at her attitude to be honest. Cats won't melt in the rain, they will find shelter somewhere so there's no need for her to let him in. She shouldn't feed him either as if you've fed him and he's also killed then he could become overweight, maybe ask her if she wants to pay his vets bills too? I would feel really put out at this because he's your pet and not hers so she has no rights to feed, de-flea or give him a roof at night. Maybe start knocking on her door late at night asking if the cat is there and she might stop.

Like you said plenty of other things to worry about, the cat likes going there and likes her you can't really stop that and it would be wrong to do that.

I would probably have not said anything, my cat used to visit other houses and afaik (he is a sneaky bugger) he stays only at his own home. He just visits their gardens to poo :D

Why would it be wrong? It's his cat not hers.

I hate that, can't stand poo in the garden, I need to get some deterrents.

I added the last bit for humour, he only did it once...I think and it was infront of them after she called him a nice cat lol

The wrong I mentioned would be on the cat, if the cat likes visiting her even after having a horrible collar then clearly it likes her a lot, I'd understand if she forced it in but she doesn't.

Not your fault anyway, cats tend to just poo anywhere, just hate it when it's my garden and not my pet :p

Well it's not right still because it's not her pet, if she wants to care for him then she should also pay half of the vets bills and I doubt the OP wants to share his car anyway. Just because cats are more independent than some other animals it doesn't give anyone else the right to act like they own them. If she didn't let the cat in then the cat wouldn't know to like her or not. Let's face it, cats will go anywhere they get fed anyway. :p
