Cat owners :)

Noticed my ginger cat drinking from the washing up bowl yesterday!. Normally she will not touch a bowl of water that I would give her in the kitchen, instead opting for drinking water outside from ponds and buckets etc.

I then realised that all her normal water sources must be frozen up during this cold spell.

Just a reminder to cat owners to leave out a bowl of water with their food....I'm amazed to notice just how much she has been drinking since providing it.

Well.. your cat isn't alone.

I have to fortunate task of having to run a slow running hose to cattle troughs for most the morning as the weather has frozen up the water pipes! \o/ oh... joy....

haha, I've had to learn to close my bathroom door. Otherwise I find my cat sat in the bath helping himself to the tap, Wouldnt be a problem to be honest if he didnt leave a mound of hair everywhere he sat! Hair in the bathroom = Yuck

But yeah, my cats get fresh water daily anyways. More so lately, and im guessing your reasoning is the case.

Agreed our cats refuse to touch their water bowl and instead yowl outside the bathroom until we let them in and run a tap. Most frustrating.

Poor thing :( My cats just laze around all day and barely move. Until its time to murder a catnip stuffed mouse that it.

Mine's quite happy drinking from a bowl, it gets changed daily but she won't drink from it when it's still cold from the tap.

Those cat water fountains are probably worth a shot if you're having problems

They prefer running water? Mine drinks out of a bowl/sink/bath/puddle on the floor just fine.

I think temperature is the biggest factor, as with iaind's moggy, mine doesn't usually like water straight from the tap.

On the subject, my dog will only ever drink from the bowl if there's no other choice. Seriously, she goes to the bathroom and asks us to turn the edwardian shower head on the bath on. Any sort of running, or even stagnant rain water - just as long as it's not still tap water :p
