Hi, I’m renovating a house and putting in a full house network, but am a little unsure of exactly what is needed to terminate the network cable with.

At one end there will be a patch panel (under stairs cupboard) then on the wall I would like some faceplates.

Looking around at sites that sell such equipment they sell pre made faceplates that have 2x LAN sockets in a single 3 pin plug size outlet, but they also sell individual socket modules and blank faceplates.

From installations specifications I’ve seen as part of my job I’m aware that these modules usually fit in floor boxes (we never mount cables on the walls)

What I’m asking is has anybody had any experience with making up their own faceplace / module combinations or do people just buy the pre made 2 ports to one outlet faceplates?

Help much appreciated as I need to get the cable ordered this week. Recommendations on good places to get cable and faceplates / modules from would also be a help.

Cheers

I'm not sure how they fit in the floor, but assuming it is the same as a wall / trunking, the face plate is the same but you can either have 2 modules (i.e. 2 RJ45 modules) per face plate for a single (square) face plate or 1 module with spacers each side. Or double face plate for double the above (rectangular like a double plug socket looks like).

At work we spec floor boxes with 4x power and usually 4xLAN sometimes 8xLAN. I assumed the companies out there sold the modules separately because commercial installers use them in floor boxes.

I guess I'd be happy to hear somebody has bough the regular wall faceplaces and its working ok for them. Just need a bit of reassurance when its your own money rather than the customers ;)

Bit confused, so you're asking if regular wall face plates are ok compared to floor boxes, when usually they are pretty much the same thing just with different clips.

LJ6C is the usual spec for floor box fitings, Euro style means it'll fit in most Euro face plates.

Soo just get some Euro double or quad faceplates an install however many modules you need?

Or am I completely off the plot?

Nope, thats pretty much what I needed to know, thanks Deaco

Just being super paranoid I'd get the wrong bits for the wall plates!
