Cat5e/6 cabling question

Gigabit to the desks, 10G direct-attach in the racks. 10G single-mode between floors. That will probably be sufficient for a decade.
 
SM seems to have historically been a more future proof choice and is what I go for if it's being installed in risers etc. Yes the optics cost a bit more but they are far less disruptive to swap out than re-pulling cable.

Fair enough, we spec MM for cab links due to it supporting up to 100G, seems like it'll be a long time before it needs replacing.
 
I should note that we don't just push Ethernet down the links because that's quite a big thing for me to have missed out. HD-SDI etc. all works over single-mode.
