Hi,
Admin please move to correct thread if this is in the wrong place.

Please excuse my ignorance. I'm very new to cat5e cabling.
My router is downstairs and I'm sending three cables upstairs to three bedrooms. My plan is to use surface plates in the bedrooms and a three gang plate near the router. Then run a short fly lead from the router to the wall plate.
My question is, Do I just wire it up as per instructed on the wall plate diagrams?
It might sound like a silly question but somebody mentioned that I needed to reverse the colours.
Thanks for your help. And if possible please treat me like the complete novice I am.

No need to reverse any colours. The wall plates normally have the colours stamped on. There are 2 standards of wire order, as long as you do them both in the same order you will be fine. Get yourself a punchdown tool if you haven't got one :)

Wow. That was fast.
Thank you so much for your reply.
I've got all the kit just needed that bit of reassurance. I must admit that I'm quite excited to learn a new skill.
Thanks again.
