Hi,

I am trying to connect 2 Netgear WNDR3700 routers together.

When they are connected via a single cat5e patch cable, it works perfectly and the lan port light on both routers light up green to indicate it is running at gigabit speeds.

When I connect them via my cat5e wall plates, with a cat5e patch cable at either end connecting both routers, it connects but the lan port light on both routers light up orange to indicate that it is only running at 100mbit speeds.

I have checked behind both cat5e wall plates, and all 4 pairs are wired up correctly. Both plates are wired up the exact same, and I have checked and checked this over many times.

None of the 8 wires are damaged in the cable between the cat5e wall plates either, as I have had my multi meter on them.

Any ideas? :(

Presumably you've checked both patch cables independently to rule them out?

Assuming you have, then despite your checks you're missing something. It's most likely going to be a problem with the faceplate wiring. So even if they look to be okay re-punch them.

If you could provide a photo of the faceplate terminations someone may spot a problem you've missed.

Have you got a cable tester, or just the multimeter?
