I corrrected my post shortly after Tom .. I do have edge.

Absolutley no perf gains for me over the 7.6 ... I am beginning to dislike buyouts ... first NTL goes to virgin and it falls apart, now ATi to AMD and it falls apart

Were are these 7.7 betas I need to get some speed outa this card

mine has seemed to have dropped too 6044 on 3dmark :confused:

any difference to stability? id rater have stability over speed at this point.

also is it ok to download the drivers for vista 64? or are they the wrong version on the site?

Stability? Not had an issue with the 7.6's, however the 7.7's so far have had my screen almost constantly flickering, almost like it keeps refreshing the screen every 10 seconds or so

Crap build IMO, will be going back to 7.6's.

Its ok with ATi and their monthly driver cycle you know your card will be mince for at least another month.

Who knows with nvidia, could be a week, a month or a year

These 7.7's are awfull, with 24xAA I get 50fps in CSS stress test, 16xAA I get 70, 8xMSAA in game I get 135, before I got 150.

There is indeed an AA problem with this card still, needs to be sorted, Dirt would be unplayable with more then 4xAA.

so far they seem to be more stable than 7.6's and general vista use seems to be a little better (no more delays when opening CCC)
Cant comment past that, reinstalling 7.6's to make sure it wasnt tweaking which is the difference in performance

Well so far on Vista x64 / HD 2900XT my impressions are these drivers are sucky

Will give it a 3DMark06 run in a minute and see just how much performance I have lost, however the flickering issue alone is going to make me go back to 7.6.

I have to say edge detect is superb using 12xAA Edge I get the same performance as I did with 8x Wide tent in Doom 3

. I seem to have had a lot of other performance decreases though :mad:

namely with CSS/HL2/SOURCE

It seems the build I was testing was actually newer than this 8.40 I tested

Ill keep these on though for the Edge Detect

Just for everyones Info edge detect does allow high AA for the same performance as a lower MSAA resolve. Im loving it

Edge is also the same as Box. It performs as good if not better than wide/narrow tent but avoids all the bluryness

2900's are also loosing performance with this set, well I am at least.

No, for the most part the screen/image is fine, as normal. Its more that every 10-15 seconds or so there is a noticable flicker of the entire screen, almost like it misses an entire frame.

Very odd.
