What is the issue? Is it you can hear the fan when it's at 25% or something? Just to clarify, as I have a hard time understanding what people are complaining about.

Apparantly the fan at 31% as it should be in 2D mode is too loud?. I really cannot see the issue myself.

That's exactly it, some people don't hit the higher fan speed because the card doesn't get hot enough, therefore no noise, whilst others with poorly put together heatsink and such hit them higher temps and get the extra noise.

So why are people saying it's a driver issue? This is the way the cards were designed.

The issue is with some people when they enter a game the fans are spinning up very fast and creating a good bit of noise that continues for the time the game is played.

Nothing to do with the heatsinks etc, its the environment you run it in.

You have a 2600 they run on a different fan bios table

. Plus they use a much less significant amount of power than the 2900's and are also 65nm

Dosn't really give a good comparison since most of the people only have a single 2900, with two in it's twice the DB amount almost

I'm sitting here and my fan speed is at 25%, can anyone else tell me what theirs is running at?

That puts my GPU just under 50c

So a poorly fitted heatsink wont effect temps, i can see you know the score, you ever seen temps on a CPU with a dodgy heatsink? I have seen people post up temps in the range of 40c idle and 65c load whist others like me have much higher temps, its crappy quality control, my mates runs in an enclosed lexa case and mine in the wind tunnel that is the coolmaster stacker 830, he gets 40c idle i get 60c, that ain't the environment that's crappy assembly.

so 58c idle and between 70-80c load is ok?

What does that video show us other than you getting artifacts? What settings were you using?
