you all worry too much ;) .. all new things don't perform well when they first come out.. in time it will get better....

By the time its got better everyone will be on the new stuff, the 2900 will be yesterdays tech when its DX10 performance is unleashed, i'll probs be on a 10800GTX or w/e they will call it by then :o

read the sir eric demer interview if you havn't already he's already been nagging the driver team for ages to get the dx10 performance up it's going to take a serious amount of time before it's full potential is unleashed by which time I may have already sold the card and moved on. :o

I will hopefully have my HD 2900XT tomorrow.

But I don't think it will see any DX10 gaming. As Tom mentioned by the time we see the full potential of DX10 on this 2900XT I will have sold the card.

do you think ATI's next party piece will stand a chance then?

I think it will but I'll be too happy enjoying the sheer monster that should be the G90 to even care :D

well i like to be brand loyal, the last NV i had was a geforce 2 or something lol yonks ago, i dont want to have to go back, but if you are jumping ship then i guess everyone here will too lol!!

I think I was wrong about the 2900 performance in DX9 saying it was crap.

Seems really good, just tried World In Conflict again, with 8xCSAA and 16xAF, soft shadows on, everything to full, UI textures or something to compressed and was running around 22fps average, with 4xAA/AF its 23fps average.

These results have brought everything into reality and Im glad to have seen them we now know where ATi need to tweak and where they don't and just why the card performs like dog in DX10 atm.

Here is the benchmark for DX10 if people want to try for themselves

I dont have permission.

Another thing to note

драйверы ATI CATALYST версии 8.3891; NVIDIA ForceWare версии 158.45.

These were the 7.5 drivers from months ago. Does anyone want to try with the latest 7.7s?

You don't have permission to access /video/itogi-video/ini/rmdx10.rar on this server.

Works fine here.

So Bioshock in DX10 is most likely going to be unplayable, hmmm, ATi need to star moving like there a$$ is on fire coz if its octoberish then DX10 performance with this card is going to be a real flop as G92 may be out, so either way, it could end up, me wasting my money but then getting a nice sale on the 2900 for around 150 with G92 is launched due to its DX10 performance suddenly unleashed, if that ever happens.

In the mean time I think my DX9 results in WIC are better than my 8800GTS:

Resolution: 1400*1050
Detail Level: Very High
Average fps: 26
Min fps: 21
Max fps: 38

Thats with 8x*SAA in game and 16xAF, no soft shadows of course, looked well nice and playable.

Can anyone confirm if thats about right for a 2900?

Heres my bench for WIC, went back to 7.6 because cant play it with 7.7 in xp.
