Hi there, have just installed the 8.4s to my X2 and have a slightly strange issue.

Basically i used the ATi uninstall utility, uninstalled the display adapters from the device manager and also went into Safe Mode to use driver cleaner.

When i go back into Windows (Vista Business 64bit) and install the new drivers i get the blank screen as what usually happens so reset the machine and for some reason i am now left with a black border around the edge of the monitor. This is still the same even if i set the resolution to 1650x1080 (22" monitor).

Any ideas as to why this is happening would be very much appreciated, and will try and work it out for myself as well.

Hi there Mud, have just had a look in the CCC, and after about 5 mins found the scaling options. For some reason the slider was set in the middle of it (15% one end 0% at the other). Once i had moved it all the was to 0%, it seems to have cured the issue.

Cheers very much for your help, am presuming everything will be fine, we shall soon see though.

Sorry I couldn't guide you straight there...my TV doesn't overscan so I have to tell the drivers on my 3450 to overscan as much as possible to get the picture to reach the bezel. I'm on my 3870X2s now though, and the relevant menu doesn't seem to be here (since I'm on a monitor).

this thread reminded me to install the 8.4s and i had the exact same thing happen. weird. thankfully, this thread saved me the hassle of freaking out :D

Haha, glad my problem could be of use to you tomos. It was really weird as to why it happened, as with no drivers and also with the 8.3s installed the screen filled the entire monitor.

Oh well, if that is the only thing i have had to worry about then i shall count my blessings. Have only tried Diablo 2 on it so far and that ran nicely :D so will try a slightly more demanding game tonight.

i'm hoping it will fix the audio issue when coming out of hibernations. on vistax64 it seems if you hibernate more than once maybe twice you cant get the audio back without rebooting. i am using the audio out via hdmi on the 2400XT btw
