Ok people, get on and try some games and tell us of any improvements - especially people with xfire!

Have been waiting on these drivers for ages with the teases of major performance improvements :)
 
Anyone had a chance to have a go on GRID? Just wondering what kind of fps people are getting on that game?

Yeah mine were working fine, downloaded the full package and it installed fine. Uninstalled my old version (there were a few things that needed to be uninstalled), ran driver cleaner in Windows safe mode and got rid of all the ATi related stuff and then installed just fine.

Was a bit late so only had a quick chance to play with GRID and PES2008, Grid seems to be working fine but PES2008 was very jittery.
 
Installed fine here, can't say I notice any difference however in performance etc!

GRID runs the same too

No problems for me with 8.8s and Vista x64,I always install the complete CCC package rather then separate driver and CCC software.


To be honest never had any problems with ATI drivers,have you tried closing down your anti-virus software before install?
 
When you run the installer the catalyst install manager will show you what it's about to upgrade. I did this and it said my CAT 8.7 display drivers were already up to date and would only proceed to upgrade the CCC not the driver! so I decided to manually install the driver and then the CCC.

Whats the difference between video and normal? :o If you could start a race up and with FRAPS see what your approx fps rate is.

As for installing I always fully remove the previous drivers before installing.
 
I always get a "Sorry, you have insufficient access. 403 Access Denied." error page when I click on the download links. It's happened with the last few Cat releases on AMD's site. I still can't work out how to fix it :(

Are Ati X800s still supported by the drivers at this stage?

edit: found a mirror so no problem

installed fine for me but I have nothing to test them against as uit was first driver install on my new 4870 but install went fine
 
Any install of ATI drivers keeps the native resolutions for me, but screws up the multi-monitor settings.

Having been on Nvidia since my 9800 Pro, and now back on ATI, I've come to the conclusion that both companies are as bad as each other.
 
Anyone noticed the Adaptive AA setting has changed in these, slider only goes from performance to quality, yet under the 8.7's you could slide through sharpness etc...
