I've just swapped my aging 8800GTX for a HD5770 Vapor-X and am having some trouble with the control centre compared to the nvidia equivalent I was using before.

First of all it's not giving me the option of selecting 24hz and secondly when I swap back from the tv to the monitor the screen resolution has changed to 1920 x 1080 rather than the 1920 x 1200 it was set at.

Any help appreciated.

Not sure on the 24hz. I just use 60hz on my HDTV as I play games on it too.

If you switch the tv off (or receiver if that what its plugged into) the monitor should switch back to 19x12 on its own.

How do you have it wired up?
DVI to monitor and then HDMI to the TV?

Also in CCC when you look at the displays there are two lots of options you can get to. If you click the down arrow on the monitors in the middle you get a 'properties' option, which you'll most likely have already seen.

But if you click on the down arrows on the smaller monitor icons at the bottom you get a 'configure' option which gives you another screen with more options on. You can pick pre-set res and refresh from a compatibility list. You might find 1920x1080@24 on here and add it to the list. It could just be that your TV isn't reporting it info properly.

Probably not the best explanation but not at my PC at the mo.

I'm using a dvi to hdmi cable for the tv (I'd use hdmi but I haven't got a cable long enough yet) and displayport for the monitor.

I did find the configure menu and did add 1920x1080@24 but in the main menu I'm still only getting 50hz and 60hz.

Right I wheeled the pc case around and attached an hdmi cable and suddenly the display on the monitor went strange, I ended up re-installing the drivers then I realised that the problem was the resolution on the monitor which had changed to 640x480.

I'm a bit reluctant to try the hdmi cable again.

hmmm, not had any issues with dual monitor and 1080p television, the hdmi connection runs extended desktop with seperate resolutions, 1650x1050 on the monitor and 1080p on the tele. can also run duplicated desktop with two seperate resolutions.
keep plugging at it mate and messing with the settings, make sure overscan is off in CCC for the television, try different refresh rates as above to see what suits you, id definatley recommend using a dedicated hdmi cable instead of a dvi to hdmi, i had a few issues like yourself running it with a converter.

id just run the television @ 50hz or 60hz, are you wanting 24hz so it will sync with dvd's?

Yeah I want 24hz for blu-rays.

Speaking of overscan I did have to move the slider in the configure menu all the way across to the overscan side before it filled the screen on the tv.
