Hi, I've got a problem with my new 6950. Basically I've installed the drivers etc.. but CCC won't open?

It doesn't actually even appear in the taskbar like it should, however in task manager I can see CCC.exe and MOM.exe running. When I try to open it (through the start menu or from right clicking on desktop) absolutely nothing happens.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling using the ati removal tool thing but this doesn't help. I'm reluctant to use driver sweeper because last time I used this the drivers wouldn't reinstall at all and I had to do a new windows install

Any advice? :)

Cheers

i'm having problems running some games now aswell. I'm pretty sure its all driver related - I just don't know how to go about cleaning them off to reinstall?

I had it I stopped the ccc.exe process then restarted it and its been fine since though thats on a 6870.

Quite a common prob this is, happens to me all the time when I update ati drivers.
What I do is remove any video drivers in the "programs and features" section of the control panel, boot into safe mode, run "driver cleaner" to get rid of any remnants of these drivers BUT be careful not get rid of any chipset drivers, etc, just graphics drivers. Reboot into normal mode, run driver cleaner again to be sure, then instal the newest ati driver pack, shut down and reboot and all should be good.
Personally I think if you remove the drivers in safemode, this'll get rid of all the remnants, if you're in normal mode, some of the drivers files might not get removed due to possibly being in use at the time.
This way always works for me so it should work for you I reckon.:)

cheers guys tried pieman's suggestions and its working again now :)

slightly different question now I've got catalyst open... by default overdrive is enabled with the card clocked down to 600MHz. I've disabled it so its altering its values by itself now, but seems very strange? Is there a reason behind this?

Regarding the CCC not opening, should McMav's suggestion not work, try the following:
Uninstall through control panel
Before restarting, delete ATI folders from Root of "C" Drive, from "Program Files" folder and under your user folder (win 7) under "AppData/Local" there is another ATI foler.
Restart, and re-install.

Had this problem just yesterday and this solved it for me.

Be aware that driver cleaner can cause more problems than it fixes though and should only be the last resort before a full Windows re-install.

I just got my 6970 now and got same issue but done stuff in this thread, Bazmo what ccc did you use? the 10.12 one that's 77mb or so? or the preview ccc?(i think the driver of this version doesn't support the 6950/6970?)
