** Catalyst Grey Screen HOTFIX **

I will. I am going to try and get my 4.6Ghz back with this new hotfix.

Cheers. Good luck!

Overclocked systems need plenty of balancing to stabilise and when you add a graphics card to a overclocked system there is a good chance you may have to start again and re-balance the overclock completely.

Yep, that's basically where I'm at now. I'm going to try and eliminate as much as I can.

ummm, i just had a light blue screen crash when watching tv, my 2 screens was enabled but that shouldn't make issues tbh.

anyway this is the first colour screen crash since the hotfix. before the hotfix i was getting colour screen crashs a lot.

Overclock is probably unstable. in fact looking at the voltage IT IS unstable. That issue is nothing to do with ATI and is plain user error.

Yeah, I raised the voltage and it seemed fine. Thanks for correcting me.

I was running my CPU at stock during testing with PCI-E bus manually set to 100MHz though, so I'm not a complete moron. :p

Or theyve been working o it for a while and finaly got it fixed? Theres been tons of complaints about this across multiple sites including amd's site, i doubt the thg article had much to do with the fix being pushed out.

Yeah right - months and months of complaints from users and nothing, then literally a couple of weeks after the Tom's Hardware article criticises them, a fix appears.

That's not a coincidence.

I think I have been suffereing the GSODs [who coined that term? :p] on my new system. It's the Saphire 5870 Vapour-X and it crashed 3 times in a few hours today. No crashes since 1800.

Had an hour or so blast on Crysis this morning and no crashes, so it would seem my symptoms fit - crashing during 2D.

I am at 4.2GHz on my i7 920, so if it crashes again today I will back it off to 4GHz and see how I get on. Would seem the 10.1 Catalysts didn't really help me. If the PCI-E frequency is a possible cause, would it be worth increasing slightly? I recall doing this with my old X1900XT when I had some issues.
