Got a 4870 today,

uninstalled my 3870 and catalyst, downloaded the new 9.1's. I keep getting the INF not found error.

Help:rolleyes:

Still no joy after about 4 hours last night (sore back now)

Catalyst or the driver will not install at all. even tried back the 8.12s and same problem. Any help would be appreciated muchly guys.

When you uninstall the drivers have you tried using driver cleaner software, also make sure that any ati folders are deleted.

Are you trying to install the suite or just the basic drivers? Try using the 'other' depending upon which one you have already tried.

Are you getting them from the official ati site?

System restore to before you did all that to when you had the 3870 in & install 9.1 over the top because sometimes driver cleaner can cause the INF error & the only way to fix as I know is to system restore & that does not mean roll-back drivers.

If its a non standard edition of the card you may need to get from manufacturers site as the ati standard drivers might not recognise the card.

Still having a nightmare with this,

tried a restore, still no go.. may just put the 3870 back in and try see if that works!!!

If i were you i would do a full reinstall off windows. I always find that doing this when new hardware is concerned usually takes less time to fix the problem. Sounds like you have tried everything so its probably your best bet for a fix.

Could try putting the 3870 back in, installing the 8.12's, then swapping the cards over (without removing the drivers), and then try installing the 9.1's over the top of the 8.12's.

I wouldn't advise using Driver Sweeper with Vista, causes no ends of problems (if your on Vista).

Also whats your full specs, may give someone an idea.

Id agree with the above as well, if you can't seem to fix it, try a reinstall of windows.

I had the same .INF file not found problem a while ago after using driver cleaner. The only thing that cured it for me was to re-install vista. I will never use driver cleaner again unless i have problems and even then i will probably end up doing a complete re-install again.

Ok, popped 3870 back in and ping, everythings back as normal, - the catalyst drivers...

re-installed 9.1. everything fine, swap cards, Vista loads and the monitor goes into power save??

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh
