Can someone give me a rough idea on the full cost, parts and labour to change the broken cat on a Mondeo for a new working one.

It depends on the garage really but I would say around the £120 as thats what the garage that my dad owns would charge.

i have been quoted around £150 for my 306. thats to get a new one and install it with Rapid fit (a ford garage)

Almost all are computer based now, very few manual ones left.

It has almost a years MOT so I won't worry about it for now.

Aslong as a knackered cat doesnt have any side effects or annoying noises/rattles?

If it completely collapses then its a problem and it could make some noise as it breaks up but otherwise no. A secondhand one down the scrappy shouldnt be much.

I read some interesting info about how unleaded can be lethal without a cat, far worse then lead ever was due to unburnt fumes
