Small towns took a beating. Tully, Mission Beach, Cardwell, Silkwood and Innisfail are the worst affected.

Do some countries hate bricks? Every time a strong hurracane hits florida you see all homes destroyed as they are made from wood. Is australian the same?
? Worst case scenario is that you have bricks flying everywere smashing in to things...
I've always thought it was a combination of things:
Availablility of resources
What type of ground your building on
Climate
Wood has a lot more flexibility in hotter climates and is certainly cheaper.
