Category D...so what?

Doh, unlucky! Although that's a nice courtesy car!!

I think you should take me for a spin in it before you give it back ;)

feel free to come round ill take you out :p where are you based atm?

oh yea, thread, topic back on....carry on

Im guessing youve missed a 0?

My courtesy car that landed today is costing the third party insurer £248 a day.....it's absolutely mental.

When my mondeo was reversed into, I dont know how it wasnt written off....due to parts having to be specially ordered as it was RSAP'd, it took 6 weeks and my courtesy car at the time was £140 a day! That's nearly £6k, the repairs cost £900 and my car was only worth ~1500 :s

If the accident isn't your fault then the other insurance company can't write your car off, as far as i know?

Correct, but if you put the claim through your own insurance, it will be treated as a fault claim until the very end of the process, and your own insurance do have the power to write your car off.

audi s5 sideswiped me with a bit of force in a carpark, nowt too major...possible bent axle, new wheel, dents and scrapes in rear quarter panel/wheel arch and rear bumper is a bit knackered. However, with no intervention from me bar a quick call to helphire i now have a 335i M-Sport coupe on the driveway....

 You should always WARN before you post such pornography.

no offence tom (as i wouldnt exactly say no either) but thats utterly obscene considering what car you currently have.

Id highly expect them to replace it with another BMW saloon - say a 320 M sport. But a 335 coupe takes the mick !!

No wonder cars get written off so easily.

i'd turn a 1 series down too. Not the same class of car.

but as already said i dont see how you could argue with something like a 320 sport. Same class of car, and only 50bhp or so difference with an e46 330i would be neither here nor there.

They offered him a 1 Series but he turned it down IIRC.

Anyone understand how Helphire's car classification works?

Impreza drivers get offered Jaguar X types, but my Legacy B4 RSK which was bigger, lighter, put out the same bhp as a UK spec Impreza STI was apparently deemed equivalent to a 1.8 diesel Vectra.

At least when I told them to get stuffed they replaced it with a 4WD Golf 2.0 GT TDI which was only a little under half as powerful (and heavier and had the wrong kind of 4WD and hateful DSG box.)

I'd hate to see how they'd cope with the Ceffy, though I hope it never comes to that.

(Cue Fox suggesting an LTI TX1)

I but you owners of group 20 cars wouldn't. That system would classify some gigantic brand new V12 German luxobarge to be the same as a clapped out Mk1* Impreza Turbo.

* I refuse to call it the "classic", it's a Mark 1, get over it.

No they offered me this first before anything else, just said if I couldn't find my own insurance it'd have to be a 1 series...for the sale of sorting my own insurance it was worth it,

ignoring the coupe bit, the 335i is only 1 model different from a 330i..That's their reasoning not mine!

I do wonder if my car will be written off though been told it's about 1500 quid of damage but a 4 WEEK wait on some of the parts!!! Will fin out later today/Monday
