Cathedral row over computer game (Can they really prove this?)

what good would it do if they can prove it.
i doubt sony need permission. many many games render real world scenes, i can't think the law requires permission from all building owners.

just exactly what law are they claiming sony have broken?

They have no faith in people whatsoever. They say the game is portraying the place as somewhere where 'you can have gun battles' like everyone who plays the game's going to go and buy a black market gun and start shooting people in the church because they 'think it's allowed'....

Retards.

I think the church have a case. I'm pretty sure you must get permission from the owner of a property before recreating it digitally. I don't think that, for example, you could recreate Old Trafford in a football game without Man Utd's permission. Why should a church be any different? The only thing I'm not clear about is whether its actually meant to be Manchester cathedral in the game or whether it just looks a bit like it. If the latter then I don't think anything will happen.

It seems to be part of the interior, that's all. It's exactly the same though, apparently. Legally I see their point, but their complaint just seems ridiculous to me.
