Cathedral row over computer game

the hitman recall was about killing someone inside a hindu temple i think

Correct. One of the levels took place in a Gurdwara, a Hindu temple.

PS This is a bit silly. I've played tons of games and seen loads of films with violence in churches. Why make a fuss now?

PPS I'm a Christian, I'm not bothered.

Saints Row has violence in church dont think anything was made of that was it. ? I agree on religious aspect but the game fictional like said above not like its gangs of Manchester. Also blaming gun culture in Manchester is just a scapegoat why should others suffer with a banned game for someone selfish actions. I doubt anyone here picks up a gun after playing a game and randomly shoots people i know there could well be a link but i think its rather blown out of proportion. Why are they saying it encourages people to shoot people in a church when its fictional game its getting rather like Jack Thompson with comments like that.

Tiss a shame that the religeous leaders dont take so much interest and broadcast thier dismay and outrage at all of the poor kids that get molested and worse whilst entrusted to the churches care ! ;)

Never fails to amaze me at what people, particularly those with a voice that have access to broadcast it, think is important. I mean for Gods sake (no pun intended), why cant they focus on the more important issues that really affect human beings and real lives instead of yet again attacking entertainment media.

So there are guns in a Church in a game ... There is a damn site worse things in Churches around the country than a virtual representation of arms !

Catholics != protestants

That being said, the CofE has been in trouble a bit of late, but not nearly as much.

Examples please. "Religion" will not be accepted as an answer, before the smartarses turn up with that one.

On the way home i was listening to talksport and George Galloway was on and he was talking about how sick it was to be shooting people in churches and how they wouldnt dare do it in a mosque. He was also talking about getting points in games by running over old ladies (cant think of the game now!). Gaming is the new Rock n Roll (ban the evil devil music!)

It seems the church are struggling to seperate reality from fantasy.

Oh yeah, they're good at that.

The popular new PlayStation 3 game, "Resistance: Fall of Man," shows a virtual shootout between rival gunmen with hundreds of people killed inside the cathedral.
That's not even anything like what happens in the game. All I remember is spending about 5 minutes passing through the cathedral while shooting waves of wall crawling mutants and large nasty dogs.
They make it sound like the game is based around mass murder inside the cathedral!

lol, I just completed RFoM yesterday, quite funny reading this story now! I love how it's so inaccurately portrayed as slaying hundreds of innocents, when in actual fact it's about 50 spider thingies and a few mutated alien dudes. As Buzza said, I think they should be pleased the church was liberated ;)

Glad I got my copy before the inevitable recall :p

Mr Galloway wasn't fully aware of the game situation so it was a bit hypocritical of him.

As Mr Gaunt would say in his high pitched tone 'the world has gone mad'

talksport-1053/1089mw, sky 0108 and dab radio.
the uk's biggest commercial radio station !!!!

Fair enough the game copied the church, I can see why they are annoyed at that but all the other arguments are so stupid, not like it's the first game to be violent or have a church setting, have these people heard of Painkiller!
