You probably might need a tetanus jab, you might also need a rabies jab (not sure if that's just for dogs I can't remember).

Tetanus is bacteria that lives in the soil, consider cats are animals that lick their paws...

I dunno, i aint too bothered, just a little worried about tetanus thats all, i dont want it, so i think i might be best getting a jab, he did draw blood and tetanus just flew to mind, the largest cut did hurt, and still hurts if i touch it, i dont know why, its pretty deep but obviously the cats teath are small and thin so the cut will be small.

I havnt had one due to not needing one.. I think i had one when i was around 5 when one of out old dogs bit me, but thats like 13 years since so i dont know..

Ive looked on some websites and they do say that i should get one, they dont say any possibility of not doing it, especially as it drew blood and could easily be infected, even without swelling..

Get a tetanus just to be safe, though you will probably be OK. Puncture wounds are the worst for it though as the bacteria is anaerobic so needs to be pretty much oxygen free. Forget about the rabies jab, your cat is very unlikey to have it and if it does it is too late to do anything about it anyway.

Try biting it back.

Tried getting the lil **** but he ran off, he tried coming to sit on me when i was on the sofa... lil ****** not a chance..

I have a plaster on it now covering it, so its oxygen free.

My mum reccommends just leaving it until tomo, the cat has bit her, but around a month or so ago, hes been on medicine lately, so its in his blood, didnt know if that was anything to worry about it, be reet it, ill just do summin if anything happens..

apologies for the length.

How to give a cat a pill

1. Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby.
position right fore finger and thumb on either side of the cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheek while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2. retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind the sofa. cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

4. Kneel on the floor with cat wedged between knees, holding front and rear paws. Ignore low growl emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold cat's head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth, drop pill down ruler and rub cats throat vigorously.

5.Retrieve cat from the curtain rail. wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie cat with its head just visible from armpit. Put pill in the end of a drinking straw, force cats mouth open with a pencil and blow down drinking straw.

6. check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink glass of water to take away taste. Apply bandage to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet.

7. Tie cats front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table. Find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Force cat's mouth open with small spanner. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of fillet steak. Hold head vertically and pour pint of water down throat to wash pill down.

8. Get spouse to drive you to hospital, sit quietly while doctor stitches finger and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye.

9. arrange for RSPCA to collect cat.:D

My GF was bitten splitting up a dog fight. She had to get a tetanus.

You would know if your cat had rabies - you would have a psycho cat!

I'd just go to the doctors and ask what they suggest. They can also check if you're up to date with tetanus and if not they can give you one as routine anyway.

Go see a doctor anyway. You can get some quite nasty infections from any animal scratches. They might give you a few days worth of antibiotics to be on the safe side.

Just phone your local Primary Care Trust or GP's and they will tell you.
