Cats

My neighbours cats like to sit on the bonnet of my car, especially when its warm after a drive. As a result, my bonnet is absolutely filthy.

Now, I dont want to go out there with a spray hose and scare them off, as I dont think this is a long-term solution, and I'd rather not upset my neighbours anyway.

So is there any kind of repellent I can put on my car, or near my car, that will stop the cats coming near?

I hate cats :mad:

Because of the flat boot on my car they quite regularly walk all over it, claws out, and put light scratches all over the bootlid.

The only sure fire way to get rid of them is water really as the use of bricks, BB guns, artillery fire etc. might damage your car.

I bought my Dad a super-soaker a few years ago and he uses that to keep pigeons, cats etc away from his house

How about a car cover to use when parked up (at home)? It would be useful in winter too for keeping the crap off.

Do they stop the windows from frosting over?

Don't squirt them when they're on the car! They'll panic and shoot off with theirs claws far more outstretched than if they were walking off slowly in their own time doing more damage.

You can get odour sprays, think they contain ginger or something. It seems to work well for are garden when I had one

My mum has a cover for her TF.. that works the best as they dont make a mess of the paint work..

With my mum through.. when ever she sees a cat out there during the day.. not matter what she has on, she goes out there chasing them with anything she can grab...

If I caught a cat on my car it would be feeling my size 12 right boot up its backside after it had come off. I'd have a go at the neighbour - cat owners are quick enough to say their cats are part of the family, would it be acceptable if their kids climbed all over your car and defecated in your garden?

Smother in wax.

Use cat to buffer car to a nice shine.

Relax in the though that the cat has to lick itself clean.

More or less what I was going to say.

Maybe it's not obvious to blueboy2001, but humans cannot communicate to cats in a way they understand. You have to pass the message across, using smells.

Try dabbing teatree oil onto to kitchen paper, and putting pieces of paper under all the wipers.

Yes on the first night, after that though they are wet and do more harm than good!

All of the cat's we've had absolutely hated the smell of oranges. Might look slightly mad rubbing your car down with orange peel mind you

Cat owners always point out how intelligent their pets are though!

I don't think people should allow their animals to roam on other people's land and property without permission, regardless of how they live in the wild, but that's not really a discussion for Motors.

My cat doesn't go out so fortunately I'm not to blame for paw prints on other people cars! However I find washing the cars regularly gets rid of evidence of kitty residence from our cars

this is common most cats hate citrus, use a citrus based cleaner for your car?

The people who live next door to my girlfriend must have about 8 cats.

The look on my face last month as I walked out at 10pm to find no less than 5 cats sat on the bonnet of my car...
