I think this is an outrage tbh. Dad has just got a ticket through as in sheffield last week he was done for speeding trying to aid an ambulance. Let me explain. He was on a road, downhill, cars parked solid on both sides so no where to pull in. Ambulance comes up behind on way to an emergency and the only option as dad sees it is to speed up to get to the next junction quicker so he can pull in to let it past. He got done doing 35 in a 30 by a camera.

Anyone else got done like this. I think its sickening tbh. 40 years of driving and a clean license and then something like this. Ive got a good mind in future just not to move out of the way for ambulances and stuff it this is potenially the result.

Definitely appeal. The hospital will have some record as to when the ambulance was called out and probably which route it took.

Does your dad know if the ambulance got flashed?

Well surely the camera doesn't know that....so contest it....any sensible human would see the issue. At the moment there's no issue. There is only an issue here if they still fine you regardless of the circumstances, which I believe would be - well - silly :)

If the ambulance is also in the picture he may be ok.

Otherwise i'm afraid he'll find it hard to get out of this one. Firstly it is a common excuse, many people claim to have sped to get out of the way of an emergency vehicle.

Secondly you're not meant to speed up to get out of the way or assist emergency vehicles - this is likely what the police will say when you try and argue it. This is because speeding leads to accidents and also hard crimes such as murder, rape and genocide.

I always move out of the way for emergency vehicles but i'm not going to speed if I find one behind me and i'm unable to get out of the way. He may have a license to speed when he's got the blues on, but I don't.

Fight it if you can but you've got a challenge!

I said to fight it but recently in our area a guy got done for edging through a red light to let an ambulance through and he got flashed by a red light camera. Even the ambulance driver admitted the guy was doin it in good faith as it was in the press but his points and fines still stood.

I was "done" for going through a red light for an ambulance in London - I appealed and they confirmed that what I said was correct, and dropped the penalty. I wouldn't have been happy if they hadn't. My father was also "done" going past a camera with a van under-taking him over the speed limit - the camera flashed for the van - but obviously my father was in shot. He appealed and they confirmed (by checking the painted lines on the ground) that my father was in fact doing legal speeds. Though they had to be told and pointed out that ther person was undertaking, as they had assumed that he was overtaking.

Definitely worth appealing if your father or if anyone is innocent - you've got nothing to lose really.

That's quite scary Freefaller!

That shows that they don't actually check the photos themselves... they just rely on the camera to make the decision.

Then your good mind is frankly retarded, how the hell is a computer meant to know not to take the picture? Just contest it, its not difficult. Yea its a sitchuation and ok, its a bit of bother, but saying your not guna move out of the way of an ambulance because of it? You gotta be an arrogant moron to think along those lines.

I find that little one a tad impossible to believe.

Not sure if the ambulance has a transponder to immobilise the camera as it goes through. They have these to change the traffic lights to let them through, not sure about Gatsos :)

So the ambulance might not be in the shot at all :(
But, obviously try and contest it . :)

Not sure about Legal Nozzer, but certainly safe to do so. The Highway code states:

194: Emergency vehicles. You should look and listen for ambulances, fire engines, police or other emergency vehicles using flashing blue, red or green lights, headlights or sirens. When one approaches do not panic. Consider the route of the emergency vehicle and take appropriate action to let it pass. If necessary, pull to the side of the road and stop, but do not endanger other road users.

Bit of a grey area really.
