Caustic Soda

You dont allow your children to play with sharp and dangerous objects? Poor kids, back in my day we were playing with knifes and electrical sockets.

Confirmed - shocked myself twice with mains voltage* by the time I was 7 and carried a pocket knife from about the age of 7.

* A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing - knew enough to have one arm behind my back which may have saved my life - but didn't think to fully isolate the device from the mains and turns out the on/off switch only controlled the output side not the input.

And just the other day i saw white spirit on the lower shelf in B&Q and thought, that's just wrong i must inform someone. Pretty sure my local wickes keeps the cement low down as well imagine if a child started snorting that.

What is wrong with people these days, if your child starts opening random items and consuming them, that's your fault no one elses.

Aye our local B&Q used to keep lawnmowers just sitting around on the ground, and sharp tools, drills and cutting implements easily accessible on shelves.
I am glad through a long campaign I managed to get the place shut down :)

Call your local branch of the KKK...or, get a life!

this and don't forget to wear your goatskins and pointed white hat. I'd be more worried about all the sugar filled craptastic food that is in easier reach of the children than a child / tamper proof bottle of caustic soda...............

Caustic soda is much more toxic. Most dangerous things state "keep out of reach of children." Have a read of this.

Oh please, you cant argue that caustic soda is not ok but bleach is because of severity. They are both considered toxic and therefore too dangerous for children. There is plenty of medicines in a medicine aisle that are harmless in normal doses but will kill a child if they chuck a handful in their mouth like sweets.

Where do you draw the line?

It is either dangerous or not. There is no argument for 'that is okay to go on the bottom shelf because it will only kill them slower if left untreated'. It is the responsibility of the parent to prevent their kids from running amok in supermarkets. If children are left unattended to drink dangerous stuff, then they can just as easily steal sweets, swipe games and throw ice cream about.

That keep out of the reach of children message is not an instruction to retailers but for idiot parents who just leave it under the kitchen sink near the squash or whatever.

in the cleaning products seciton they go from floor to above head height in my local supermarket

bleaches, dish washer tablets (that look just like sweets dont you know) in fact anything that could poison a child that wont do as it told

and in the medicines section..paracetemol is on the bbttom shelf..and they look just like little mints to nosy children

To be fair, if a premises is dangerous for children, then that premises has a responsibility to keep children out or at least offer up sufficient warnings about safety.

I would argue it is completely safe for a supervised child. Do parents really need big warning labels down the cleaning and medicine aisles telling them not to let kids drink and eat the stuff?

Surely the giant 'cleaning products & bleach' sign above the aisle should be enough to indicate what is there.

What stops unaccompanied children going in?

Every single building on earth is dangerous for a child. They are idiots.

Does your building run on electricity? Risk of electrocution = Dangerous for children.

Does your building have some sort of mains water connection? Risk of drowning/scalding = Dangerous for children.

Does your building have walls made of a solid surface? Risk of running into walls = Dangerous for children.

Does your building have a floor made out of a solid surface? Risk of falling = Dangerous for children.

Does your building have doors? Risk of trapping fingers = Dangerous for children.

Does your building contain items/objects? Risk of tripping over/colliding with items/objects = Dangerous for children.
