I see this new WD drive uses 4 x 500GB platters. Will we see a single platter, 500GB drive any time soon?

Samsung are doing a EcoGreen 2 500Gb drive with a single 500Gb platter afaik.
I'm more interested in knowing when they will port those 500Gb platter designs down to the lower 1.5 and 1Tb models as there should be a noticable performance increase from having 500Gb platters.

And it should be a lot more interesting when we get a 7200rpm drive using 500GB platters.

Seagate will launch a single platter 500GB at the end of Feb 2009 with 16mb cache.

Not seen any comparisons between this and the ST3500320AS which has 32MB but not single platter (replaces it) yet.
