I went several times with school around the mendips and Wookey Hole Caves. Those were the days as we also got to go rock climbing around that disused quarry near Wells
I was in to caving when I was younger and fit
Caved mainly on the Mendips, but travelled to South Wales, Yorkshire etc. There is a lovely cave called "Otter Hole" near Chepstow the tide seals you in for 12 hrs
I've done it a few times, most notably at uni. was great fun, although it's best not to think that you are under millions of tons of rock whilst you're doing it...
"Scariest" moment was when we got to the bottom of one cave and there was a near vertical wall that lead up into a very narrow passageway that lead to a steep narrow slope. Bloke we were with said about it so I had to have a look and it's a lot more "interesting" when you're in a tiny passageway (literally as wide and high as you so no turning around) about 100 yards from anyone else. Luckily the bloke was correct about there being just enough space for you to turn at the end.
I was invited on a PR-led potholing event for the release of The Descent Part 2 last year. No friggin' way you'd get me squeezing around those caves, so had to turn it down, LOL.
