Cavity Wall Insulation

Decided against this in the end. Very conflicting information online about it.
I suppose the cavity is there for a reason, if it was designed to filled up then it would have been.
It's still a bloody sauna in the house now anyway!

Just had EON round to my house and they did some test drill's on the walls and I've arranged a fitting date. Apparently, our cavity only has 20mm of polystyrene in it with a 50mm gap. They are going to fill this with a suitable glue type filler.

I know nothing about this kind of thing so was persuaded to sign up, have I done the right thing? It's all free which is another reason I gave the go ahead.

I would pull out. The gap is there for a reason. Anything that bridges that gap and allows water to seep to inner wall will mean big problems later down the road!

Parents had it done about five years ago, house no warmer if anything its colder now plus damp now coming through ,Houses were/are built with cavity walls with air bricks in them for a reason, someone filling the cavity and sealing the air bricks with silicone

I wouldn't have it done, find it hard to believe you only have 20mm polystrene, would thought more like 50mm.

If it was me I prefer to keep the cavity clear, it was design to allows air to move around.
