Few questions that'll help us to give you advice you're seeking...

-Do you hold a licence, if so when was the last time you rode a bike and what was it?
-What's your budget?
-What will the motorcycle be used for?
-What are you measurements? Height, weight etc.

- Don't hold a license, used to have a CBT and a 125cc CBR about 8 years ago.
- No budget really, but If I want something I can afford it.
- Commuting on sunny days and maybe the odd ride on a nice weekend.
- 5,11" 14-15 stone.

Never really wanted to go past 100mph so always used to like the idea of 300's. I'm tempted by the 125 and potentially doing the test and just keeping it and taking off the L plates. I like the look of it so much I might keep it indefinitely in the garage.

On a CBT you can only ride 125cc and upto 15bhp. I would say do your licence first and see for yourself if a smaller bike is for you, you'll have to do CBT again anyways. The cost of everything is around £600-700 to get your licence. Give this a read

You'll quickly get fed up with the lack of power in a 125, there're some bigger bikes that have nice acceleration to 100 and than barely accelerate (*cough*SV650*cough*).

Will you be commuting via A/B roads or just town riding?
