CBR Crash (Again)

seriously - learn some basic maintenence. i.e. if somethings not working how it should do - get it sorted ASAP if it's dangerous!

take the money and buy yourself some common sense instead of sliders...

Get it fixed then find someone who knows motorbikes properly to show you!

Ball bearings on a front wheel? Most likely wheel beaings have failed which would mean it wasn't the front brake which locked up but the wheel bearing collapsing and locking the front wheel up. Sounds more likely than the front brake....

You're fixing the bike without even finding out what the original problem was.

Err Maybe I neglected to mention but I already fixed that, I gave the bike to my uncle, he's the one who sorted the brake's out in the first place after I got the disk replaced, He said it might have been the brake piston. It seems fine to me, I got a second opinion from my local Bike MOT shop and they gave it a good look over and came to the same conclusion.

No need to get snappy,

Everything is A ok, except the fairings =/

And yes I did notice the rubbing of the brake pads on the wheel about a week after the disc was fitted, Thats when I took the pads off and had a look with my stepfather, we agreed we couldn't see much wrong, Put it back together and next morning I took it out and it locked, It definitely locked. I took a photo of the front skid mark as well.

seems to me like you applied the front brake and the piston stuck on ect,so it would be a seized brake piston?

Then he didn't sort the brakes out if the pistons still sticking surely? :p

Strip them down and get the pistons cleared up properly (replace them if you need to) Make sure you replace the piston seals and go from there. They sound like they need a proper overhaul.

Not being snappy - just to the point.

On a motorbike something like this could easily stick you under an arctic and then they'll be explaining your death to your uncle.

Seriously - forget the fairings - cosmetic. Strip the brakes off, rebuild the caliper with new piston seals as it sound now like it could be a seized piston. And MAKE SURE you clean the piston up if it is seized to get the crap off it or it will seize again. When it seizes is when you apply the brake, the piston comes out and presses the pad, then you let go of the brake and it sucks the piston back into the caliper but it can't go back in as too much crap on piston..... then it'll get to the point where the slightest bit will bind the brakes on.

Words fail me.

How can it possibly be fine if the front wheel locked? At the very least, the callipers need rebuilding and the fluid changing.

I've taken it to the garage and they have done all of that for me, Once I get the panels in sooner or later, I'll take it for a test ride once the weather holds up and stops snowing!

EDIT: I'd love to take the brake's apart and clean the piston and put new piston seals on it but I don't know how, so I'll leave it to the professional this time

With all the Panels/Head unit off

Youre very lucky not to have come off worse. Id be wanting to find out what cause your brakes to seize on first and foremost..

Not meaning to but in or anything, how big are CBR's just out of interest? are they taller than ybr's and such? or on par with an NSR?

The CBR Is Taller Than The YBR Easily, But In Terms Of Ride Height, The YBR is A Situp Bike, Whereas The CBR Is A Lean Over The Tank Bike

YBR seat height: 780mm

CBR125 seat height: 776mm

Only 4mm, yes. I'm still right though. :p

The CBR looks ridiculous IMO. I'd take the YBR for the simple fact that it is what it is, unlike the CBR it isn't pretending to be something it's not.

Honda could do a much better job, they should take aspiration out of Yamaha's r125.

Oh and lean over the tank bike? What? The term is sports bike and it's barely one of those :p

Really? I Always Feel Much Taller Than The People At College Who Have YBR's =/,
The New One Does I Agree, My 57 Plate Repsol, Hell No! Its Beautiful!
The YBR Is Nice, But Its Like Driving In A Car Without Enough Leg Room, It Feels Cramped And Uncomfortable For Me, The CBR, Perfect.

arctine have you seen the new CBR 2011, It Looks Identical To The R125...

And Yeah I Know =P
