CBR1000RR First Thoughts

Sorry to sound dumb, but whats a powercommander and a tailtidy?

Power Commander is a little device that sits under your seat and allows custom engine maps to be uploaded onto the bike. Clicky

A Tailtidy gets rid of the horrid amount of plastic on the section that holds the number plate. i.e. clicky

Gorgeous. Jealous. I want a bike again one day. I miss my GSXR. All I would say is that all litre sportsbikes I have ridden handle like dogs at very low speed so I wouldn't worry about that. They are not made for riding at <25mph let alone 15. My mates old R1 I swear letting the clutch fully out with no throttle would take you up to about 30mph.

Dont like it, and I hate the silly plastic bits new bikes have to hold the number plates, since when were they needed?

But im not a fan of any new bike really so dont worry about my opinion :p

Im sure you'll have plenty of laughs on it, especially around The Alps, some great twistys to give you a few days of fun, trust me! ;)

And get to a track day!

:D

Quite a few years back I looked into getting an 893 FireBlade as a second "fun" bike, while I used the VFR for commuting. I still have a soft spot for them. What year is yours?

It is one of the very last before they went to 918cc, it is a CBR900RRS 1995MY on a N registration. First registered early 1996, Jan or Feb iirc.

It's well sorted except for being a bit tatty around the rear shock. It has only done 23K, 5K of that over the last year from me! :D

Lovely. Do you prefer riding it to the 929 out of interest?

Considering I've put more miles on it in 10months than I put on my previous 3 bikes combined, I would say yes ;) :D. I love how raw it feels & I have done Oxford to Paignton in one go so it's still quite comfy for a sportsbike. Of course everyone has different body dimensions though so it could be totally different for you. All I would say really is sit on one & do a few miles on it if possible. I am 184cm tall but only have a 31" inside leg, 16.5 stone of pure lean muscle (:D:D)

The 929 is quite a bit more modern looking & has FI, but not really drastically different from my memories apart from the fuel tank is narrower & it doesn't feel quite so "big" overall. It isn't quite so quick on the steering either, having the 17 inch front wheel.

I love blades, imo the best sportsbike of their generation(s) for road use.
