CBT & Bike advice

Get a better school. I think ultimately they shouldn't have run the session. The rest doesn't sound that bad a lot of CBTs will be on bangers and most instructors will have stories of bikes ending up in ditches, trees during those sessions that make schools think twice about buying new kit.

I left my CBT not feeling confident at all, it was only when I started riding my own bike did it start to click and then I actually learnt to ride properly during my recent DAS lessons.

Everyone has to start somewhere so don't let the first experience put you off. Riding a bike is awesome!

It's not :)

I bought my first bike today 2019 Yamaha MT 125 with just over 2k on the clock couple of scratches here and there nothing that cant be sorted and full service history the previous owner dropped it off and i gave him a lift back home in the car luckily i can still drive with a swollen knee, was going to buy new but after my accident decided best to save a few quid, and get 2nd hand just in case it happens again.

That's such a shame, my CBT was a fantastic day out (despite the 29 degree heat) I would definatley look for another company to try again. I used Focus Rider Training in Bury if that isn't too for for you ?

Sounds like you just had a bad school. Trust me they're not all like that! I passed my DAS in June last year (Stupidly hot days too) and my wife has finally given me permission to start looking at bikes. I'm looking at 600s for now to start with and look at going bigger when my insurance comes down a bit.

My first CBT wasn’t great.
I had no inclination to get a bike afterwards.
Second one a few years later I told the instructor I had never ridden a bike.
I said I needed time and space to practice clutch control before we start.
He left me to it initially and it went great once I had mastered that basic thing. The rest is history.

Well I decided sod it, knee getting better so should be fine enough to ride again by the end of the week, so gone and booked my CBT for this Sunday at somewhere different, hopefully this time all goes well and I don't go falling off again lol.
Edit

I've also told them I've never ridden one before, so im going to look like either a quick learner or a over confident idiot :

How did you get on?

I've just booked my CBT for the 12th Feb. Looking at a 125 for commuting to work, around 38 mile round trip. Parking at my work is awful and often have to park 15 minute walk away. However, motorbikes have loads of space in a secure covered area.

I'm very excited. I've ridden mopeds in Thailand, and also ridden an off road bike with gears before (but that was 20 years ago). Hoping I'll be ok.

My other half had a horrendous experience with a school local to her in Newcastle Under Lyme. Instructor ****** off for his lunch at one point leaving her unattended in the yard, gave her sodding banged-up cruiser with monkey hangers ON HER CBT and had a roar at her for stalling the damn thing as she could "damage the clutch". He refused to let her out on the road to do the final part, after spending the morning completely failing to teach her and focussing on the male learner who was redoing his CBT so he could continue working for Deliveroo or some other damn gig economy bunch of exploitationists.

Eventually we went to a group in Stoke instead who gave her a female instructor, a decent, well-maintained bike and all of a sudden, as if by magic, she flew through it.
