1. Can a person take CBT 3 months before his b'day?
2. Only doing provisional license (riding with L plates) can you go on the highway?
3. The provisional license is up for 2 years, after this period when 19 can you go on to do A2?

1. You have to be minimum 16 for CBT on a 50cc and 17 for 125cc.
2. You can go on dual carriage ways, not motorways I believe.
3. Not sure, laws have changed since I did it. Someone else will be able to tell you. But either way, the CBT still needs to be valid when you do the bigger tests.

1. Yeah I know this already, but my friend is doing her license now and its like 2 months and 2 weeks away from her 17th birthday, so I just wondered if its this same with CBT.
2. Oh well :(
3. Ok, lets see what others say.

You can do a CBT before you're 17 (50cc only) then when 17 you can do the A1 for 125 cc.

Your CBT will last 2 years, after that time do the A1 test or retake the CBT.

Yep no motorways.

But can I take CBT for 125cc 2-3 months before my birthday just like e.g. Car license?

You can't take your car license before you're 17 in the UK so not sure where you've got that info from. You can't even have a legal diving lesson until your 17.

True Scythe sorry.

IC3, you can get geared 50cc bikes. Can't imagine they're much fun though and that's coming from a 125 rider :p

How is this making any sense?
I need something to travel... I would look a bit weird on moped as I'm over 6 foot tall. :(

Does not matter how much of a need you have to travel. You follow the same Laws and Rules as everyone else.

You can ride a 50CC at 16, not before.

If you really need to travel I doubt how you look is a huge concern. I'm 5ft10 and twist and go scooters are perfectly fine, an extra 2 inches will make sod all difference.

Ok well you have to be aged 16 to do your CBT on a 50cc (geared or moped, no difference), or if you take your CBT aged 17, you'll be on a 125cc. When you turn 17, you can automatically ride a 125cc, even if you did the CBT on a 50cc.

CBT is valid for two years. You must pass your theory, mod 1 and mod 2 if you want a full licence within the two years, you can not take any motorcycle test if you have an expired CBT certificate. You can take another CBT after your original CBT expires if you need longer.

Riding on a CBT with L plates, you can ride on dual carrageways, but NOT motorways.

Is helmet, jacker and gloves enough? Or do I need to have protective trousers, shoes as well? The L plate is quite large because of the white background, I've seen some people from my college having the 'L plate' without the white background. Can the reg be smaller like the one on the picture
