CCC do you need it?

Hi im waiting for my 5850 to be delivered and was just curious to know if i need to install the CCC? Im going to get msi afterburner to overclock so didnt want to conflict any settings.

You don't need to install CCC, you can just stick to the driver install. CCC shouldnt cause any conflicts with afterburner..
 
Afterburner works no probs with CCC intalled, if you are going to OC your 5850 with a slight OC use CCC, my 5870 is OC to 875/1250 [64'c-fanspeed 28%] using CCC it also tests your OC. Have OC my 5870 upto 900/1275 stable with no voltage increase with CCC, forgot what temps and fan speed were but ran ok.
 
ok cool cheers for that! do you get 100% fan control with msi afterburner? i used to use river tuner for my 260GTX and had it on 50% speed all the time?

What does afterburner give you compared to CCC?

Sorry for the dum sounding question i have not had an ATI card for years x300 was my last one so thats a fair while ago!!

I think the main thing is being able to adjust your voltage. The best thing you can do is read up about Afterburner google it.

Thanks mate just red thru the manual looks like a fab piece of software much easier to use than river tuner by the looks of it and a nice plush lay out to :D
