CCC settings not kicking in

On Half Life 2, I have set AA and AF to off, and put all those on the Catalyst Control Center to max, clicked apply and etcetera. But it doesn't seem to kick in when Half Life 2 opens. It's jaggy and the textures are washed out from a short distance, much like the ingame options of 0 AA and AF took priority over the CCC's settings. Is there something I'm missing here?

X1950XT video card with the 7.1 drivers. Note the graphics card hasn't actually got any real support, so that's probably it.

edit: ATI Tray Tools show all these settings as 'on' as well, so I'm confused

You may have the "Let Application Decide" option checked in CCC > 3D > All Settings?

Not sure if thats why but it might be an idea.

May have Cat A.I enabled, that makes textures washed out etc... especially in HL2 when looking into the distance, there was a good article on it somewhere where you could see it, if your on the train tracks with the sloping walls to the sides, if you have the CAT A.I enabled the wall starts to go washed out/blury, but if you have the CAT A.I disabled it all stays perfect, ill see if i can dig it out, oh you can see it in the CCC as well where you have the animation of the car, if you turn the CAT A.I on you will notice that the road will go blury/washed out, but with it off it stays fine, and please stop saying the x1950 XT's are not supported by drivers, they are. :(
