It seems that every time I use CCleaner it informs me that a new version is available.
In God's name, why
So far as I can tell it offers no additional functionality and I suspect that the real reason is that the new owners (Avast and its infamous inclusion of the Floxif trojan a couple of years back) do "deals" with software providers and websites quietly to overlook their cookies and sell on harvested data. CCleaner has also tended to "offer" other software - e.g. Google Chrome.
