Just ran ccleaner on a slow machine

I've never actually tried it (mostly as I reinstall once a month or so).. Is it suitable for use on Vista at all?

Yep runs fine on Vista 64. Great tool, low resource, small size and free.

I've been using Ccleaner for a good couple of years now, it's a great bit of software.

I'm Captian Tinker.. It only takes me a few weeks to naff up an install, or get bored and try out a *nix distro or go back to XP and then back to Vista

Tbh, with tools like nLite/vLite and integrated silent application installers, a reinstall only takes around 20 mins max - about the same amount of time some people would spend cleaning their current install/defragging/virus scanning etc.
I find starting from scratch every now and then is so much less hassle

It's not as hard as you suppose, on XP I had a slipstreamed DVD that installed and setup a load of my most commonly used apps. Just had to reinstall the games then. Had all the patches for them backed up too.

I don't think I was ever as bad as having to reinstall once a month though.

The games I play (q3 variants, mostly) don't neeed reinstalling - they just run from my Games folder on a seperate drive

My applications don't need reinstalling - I have home made silent installs integrated into my Windows disks.

So yes, 20 mins includes everthing bar changing my wallpaper - which could also be integrated into the Windows install disk, but I change my mind too often

as above poster, I have everything streamlined, nothing is on my c drive, so I format, pop in a cd ive made that self instails all my new system programs.

think about the only thing I have to do is run the MS office save my settings tool. so 20min is pretty much right.
