CCNA Quick Q

Hi guys,

Just a quick question regarding the CISCO CCNA.

Do i have to complete any practical assesments or is it possbile to just study in my own time and sit the CCNA exam?

It possible to study in your own time and sit the exam. The exam itself includes simulator questions, so you probably do want to get some hands on time with Kit, or using a simulator.

no practical assignments unless you take a course on it, although I would advise to get yourself a router and play with it...

Can anybody recommend some good equipment and study material? I've been looking at maybe getting a 2500 series router and a 2900 series switch, anything else i should be looking for? Budget is about £250.

I used the Cisco Press Self Study guides, and also swiped a copy of the sybex CCNA guide from a colleague (meaning glanced through it once during lunch). However I work with Cisco kit day in day out, so it was fillling in gaps rather than learning from scratch. But overall the books seemed ok.
