CCNA - Training Providers ?

Hi,

My current employer seems reluctant to help me progress / training / motivate myself so I am going to look at booking myself on a CCNA course.

I live in the Herts area, can anyone recommend any good training providors nearby / in London ?

There are hundreds but for those that have been on them it would be nice to hear your recommendations..

Serious money as well probably.

Are you already working with cisco kit? buy a book and self study.

boson do a pretty good router sim app.

Not actually that difficult.
 
If you can get your hands on some CBT (CBT Nuggets for example), a bit different from reading a book all the time.
 
Global Knowledge have a lot of places down that way and have provided some good courses for my staff previously.
 
how much experience do you already have? if none, then you could try and find a cisco academy running at one of your local colleges - this is a good way to go about it as you will get a proper instructor, 'official' course material, access to a decent lab of kit, and you will get to meet a few new people too. the downside to it, however, is that the timeframe is a bit...well...elongated, as it is four semesters over two academic years. if you already have some experience, or the previous approach doesn't sound attractive to you, then get yourself some books and either buy yourself a few routers or use something like gns3 to run it all 'virtually'. you could get yourself on one of these week-long courses, but to be honest, they are expensive and i dont think you can really learn and properly understand all the required content in a week anyway. also i would say avoid any of these weekend bootcamp type things too, ok once you know your stuff if you just want a weekend to play with some kit, but don't go in there expecting to learn all that much. take your time, and really try to understand and practice the basics so you can get a good foundation.
