CCNA

Just don't let it expire after 3 years like I did :) The 1 exam route was ok but you need to know your networking basics pretty well.

The whole SDN is putting me off networking a bit. As someone else said, F5 or Netscaler path might be the way to go as those things are not going anywhere anytime soon.

I went on F5 training course and the trainer said the exams can be brutal :p, I dont plan on taking the F5 exams though, just learning, have my own F5 lab at home and an ubuntu server which is simulating 5 virtual web servers. Pondering on weather to get a lab licence.

Luckily each CCNP exam I do now (there are 3) will bump my CCNA I had this year anyway top it back up to 3 years, then aslong as you manage time ok, keep your matirial, notes etc recerting should be ok, aslong as you have enough time.

If you dont know your networking so well, I would do the 2 exam route, concentrating on ICND1 without worrying (yet) about ICND2 will let you understand it a little better and let it soak in, rather than rushing through it because you know you have ICND2 to tackle. Dont try to tackle the CCNA in one.

Eh, don't depress me... I've got to renew my CCNP as it expires sometime this autumn. :( I get the feeling Cisco just see the exams as a cash cow. £180 per exam and the amount of tracks they have...

Yep was a bit shocked when I seen the price per CCNP exam, the CCNA ones that came out at £109 are ok, £180 is a bit much. Feel bad for those paying out their own pocket.

I've never looked at F5's but Netscalers have decent trial/developer licenses which give you full access, pretty useful.

Cool sounds good :) you can download F5 virtual trial licences from the website, 30 or 90 days but only v11.3.0.

I'm trying to sort lab licences
