cctv dvr

Hi

I have a cctv dvr connected to my router. In the dvr settings it has the following settings:-

i.p 192.168.1.108
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
service port 37777

I can log into the dvr from my laptop but how do I log into it externaly. I was told I use my ip address into the address bar with the port number at the end of any pc 87.xxx.30.80:37777 and this will do it.

Is this right. The dvr is fully networkable?

You'll need to forward that port within the router's settings.

how to connect to a specific port

Hi

I have a cctv dvr connected to my router. In it's networks settings it has set:-

i.p 192.168.0.108
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.1
service port 37777

I can log into it by typing my i.p but how do I log into it when I am away from home. What do I type into the address bar?

I have port 3777 forwarding to 192.168.0.108 in my netgear router

http://192.168.0.108:3777

That will only work "inside" your network.

To access the device from the outside substitute the local address for the WAN address, you can get that here...

http://www.whatsmyip.org/

I can do it from inside my network by typing 192.168.0.108.

I'm having problems connecteing from outside my network using the port number at the end. I will give it a try and see how it goes.

you need to enable port forwarding on your router and forward that port to the device

post what router you've got and we can talk you through where to go if you dont already know

I set port forwarding up in my router and then tried from a friends house by using my proper ip addy with the port number after the : but it still wouldn't work.

The only way I got it to work was set something called DMZ to the i.p of my dvr.

All I have to do now on any pc is type my proper ip in and it goes straight to my dvr. I don't know if this is the right way to do it but it does work for now.

DMZ forwards everything that isn't already forwarded to the IP that's set, so it sounds like you hadn't forwarded the port properly.

If you just type the ip (no port number) it would seem that the software is initially listening on port 80 (although it may then forward to another port) Did you forward port 80 on your router?
