Can someone give me some pointers to who or where I might be able to get a decent CCTV system (buying the parts and fitting myself for a customer). Basically he wants to protect his work yard which has lots of metal stored in it, but the cameras need to be high quality , zoom and recording facility (via a PC system).

thanks

There are lots of rules about active CCTV ie, you can zoom and/or tilt/pan.
You might want to check them out before offering to fit the system yourself. I think you have to be certified or accredited or something and have plenty of signs up. you definately have to sign up and register the system if it's not for private house.

ok other than the red tape which I'll look into, can anyone suggest any appropriate hardware or suppliers? I've been told that £500 for a camera isnt out of the question if it does the job and if poss robotic. So the customer isnt shy of spending on decent hardware, I've googled but its a mine field, my backgrounds PC programming and hardware installations
