I have a problem with the Tomb Raider Anniversary DVD and my DVD drives, if I have just switched the computer on, it won't load the game and the DVD won't autorun when it's put into the drive. If i have had the computer on for a while, it seems to autorun OK and the game will load. Also if the DVD is in the drive when I boot the PC, it will spend ages on the Windows loading screen, but if I take the disc out it will almost immediately proceed to the login screen. The latter also happens with the Tomb Raider Legend disc, but I don't seem to have the first problem with this game. I was wandering if anyone knows a fix for this.
Thanks

I've tried my other DVD drive and that has the same problem with loading the game so I doubt its the drive for at least that part of the problem. They both load other game discs alright too

Its a toughie but...............

Run the setup from the dvd. had this issue on a laptop. Look for the main exe.

Choose custom setup and install to hard disk

I've managed to install the game, and I can play it when the computer has been on for a while but when it won't load the game I can't view the contents of the disc in explorer either. Its really annoying me now as I can't just turn my computer on when I want to play it, I have to turn it on and leave it for a while the come back to it and it'll just run no probs

I had a similar problem with certain music cds... Might be a long shot, but are you getting any unusal beeps/led combinations from the dvd drive?

I'm having this on my computer.
I think its the game protection software. I've got DAEMON tools loaded, ie gives you a virtual CDrom/DVD drive. Apparently the SecureRom(?) software detects these virtual drives and blacklists the drives. I got windows explorer hangs clicking on my computer, uninstalled the DAEMON tools and everything is now fine.

I'm guessing the protection routines were also hitting my real drive.

I'm not getting any beeps, but on startup and when it won't read the disc, the loading LED is on constantly

Its a Lite-On Lightscribe DVD-RW drive if that helps at all
