Getting the above message trying to run a few EA Games from the CD and am getting this coming up.

Are there any programs or tools I can use to completly wipe my hard drive from these emulation tools so that I can play my EA Games as normal?

Since when's a virtual drive against forum rules? Telling him how to bypass copy protection would be against forum rules, of course, but I don't think anyone's been told off for discussing virtual drives here, surely?

I do know that you are not allowed to discuss copy protection etc, which is why I was very careful how I worded this as I didnt want it to be taken in the wrong way.

Yes, I used to have Alcahol 120% & Daemon Tools, but after that message I deleted them both, but still the message has come up when I try to play the games. Surely I dont have to resort to wiping the hard drive and re-installing everything from scratch?

Those software will probably have left registry settings that the games are picking up on. Run regseeker or some other tool to clear the settings and/or check any folders the applications might have left behind and delete them.

I don't think telling the OP how to remove/clear these files (which is what he's looking for) is against forum rules, just discussing ways of bypassing the checks would be.

Surely it wouldnt be against the forum rules for mentioning a solution that does not break any of the forum rules, as we are not mentioning anything illegal.

Anything would be better than spending an entire weekend re-installing Windows XP and everything else I have to (hopefully) then get rid of any of these error messages.

Any software would be helpful that could detect? and remove any virtual drive software I do not need so that I can continue buying EA Games and then playing them without any more messages coming up :(

It depends on the solution. I know of a fix for your problem, but you can only get it from dodgy sites so obviously I can't link you to it.

If someone can link you to a legitimate program or a way or cleaning your registry then it's fine, but people are correctly aware that most solutions will come from places you can't link to.

I dont suppose that I could e-mail you privately for the link could I? Then we wouldnt be breaking forum rules, and would help me if I get this message come back in the future to know what to do, because other than reformatting my hard drive each time I dont have a clue :(

No, asking somebody to email you the solution is also no-go, as you're implicitly mentioning it. That's the dodgy solution of course, not the straightforward one. I think if you search for "Alcohol" through the registry it should catch most of the left-over entries and the game should run fine.
I haven't bought any EA games recently and didn't know they had a problem with emulation. Last I heard it was just Ubisoft games that were being picky (the last 3 I bought didn't work properly!). Which game is it, if you don't mind?

It is all the Sims 2 generation of games. they used to all work without a problem, until I installed Alcohol & Daemon Tools, deleted both of those programs, and can now not play them anymore. I have used PC Tools 2006 and registry mechanic that have picked up some entries, but still the error message comes up, which is really confusing as im at a loss what to do next

download regcleaner you can google it, and remove all trace from the boot of anything that automatically loads up. I dont know how these programs are installed, but i presume they are manually loaded each time you load windows.
