As title really! I'm looking for something that I can use to rip from my CD collection and organise the songs ready for me to transfer them to a series of flash drives.

Anyone got any free recommendations other than iTunes?

Ta!

Exact Audio Copy is the best Windows software for ripping CDs. Then convert the WAVs to FLAC format and away you go.

Another option that you might want to check out is foobar2000.

Would suggest EAC as well. Have used it for years. Bledd had an installer for an older version of EAC I think that set up the MP3 stuff for you.

EAC is going to do a checksum comparison against a reference database for each track to validate that there are no ripping errors, which is I imagine beyond the scope of itunes, whether it is really necessary ?
last time I looked thought there were free-ware tools and databases for an exact copy - I infer from what you said you have to pay for latest EAC
