Ceiling Lights - Ideas?

Hi all

We have 4 of these in our house and they're butt ugly and filthy after years of neglect by previous owners. I want to replace them but I have no idea on fittings and also styles. Anyone replaced these recently, have any ideas, suggestions

That's just a batten lamp holder. There should be a screw on the outside somewhere? Failing that does it unscrew from the ceiling fixing like a normal pendant?

Can be replaced with anything you want, it's just a lamp holder.

What room/rooms are they in?

I think they unscrew, not checked yet but remember the decorator mentioned it. There are 2 in the entrance hallway and 2 in the first floor landing areas.

Everything visible can be unscrewed and replaced without having to touch a wire. First off, I'd give it a once over with a surface wipe - they look filthy.

Would look a lot better if you added a lamp shade.

I prefer uplighters/indirect light in the living room - ceiling shades become too much of a focal point (sic) , perhaps not if you lived in a mansion with high ceilings,

I wouldn't mind trying some of the vintage style led bulbs, you can see filament, in ceiling roses to see how they look, if colour adjustable
