Ceiling tv mount

Hi all,

I have one of these.

Im just wondering how to mount it.

I've located the beams above the plasterboard in my bedroom, used magnets to find the nails.
They are spaced too far apart to get the mount to span two.

Would it be suitable to use the beam to secure the mount at the two main bolts and then use heavy duty plasterboard fixings on the remaining 5 screws?

Or, should I get into the loft, and install some battons between the beams and then screw up into that from below? Id rather avoid this method, as it may not be possible due to the massive water tank up there.

The TV weighs 30KG.

Could you use battens on the surface of the ceiling? i.e. run battens between beams on the ceiling and screw or bolt the battens to the beams, then attach the TV mount to them? I guess it might not look that good though.

I could use some 18mm structural board painted white on the surface.
That's easy and simple to do. And can span two beams.

If access is impaired from the loft, I'd cut out plasterboard between the joists, add noggin / support, then make good by replacing the bit you cut out, filler, and paint.

I would not use plasterboard fittings for a ceiling mounted TV, even if two of the screws are into wood.

Can you post a picture of the screw holes in the mount? I can't see it in the link.

30kg tv? Is it a crt?
I looked at one of these mounts a few years ago, decided for the aesthetics it was better(easier) to get a tv bed.

I was getting a bed anyway at the time.

get into the loft, and install some 4x2 or bigger if possible
securely fix these as well
battens would not be strong enough imho
and plasterboard fixings:cry::cry::cry:
just NO

This thing is going to be above your bed and could collapse on you whilst you're asleep. Don't take any chances and ensure it is fitted properly.

Unlikely but probable? Someone skipped statistics!
I was denied far more educational opportunities than you'd think.

Anyway, I'm on holiday and was about 10 cocktails deep. I'm surprised it was even mildly comprehendible! My replies later today may be... Fun? Silly? Who knows!! :D
