hi, need a low budget system ive have narrowed it down to 2 options:

1)

Intel Celeron D 341 2.93Ghz Skt 775 FSB533 256kb Cache Emt 64 Retail
DFI Lanparty UT 915P-T12 SKT775 onboard audio SATA LAN ATX

2)

AMD Sempron 3000+ (SDA3000BXBOX) 64 Bit Architecture 1.8Ghz Skt 754 Boxed
Asus K8N Socket-754 nForce3 ATA - Sound Lan USB2 800FSB SATA Retail Box

It's going to be used with 1 stick of 512 pc3200 and for general office/net use. wont be overclocked.

any reason y the sempron is recommended, i guess its down to better peformance?

Go for the cheapest.

The sempron is slightly faster than the celeron D but you wouldn't notice the difference between them.

its gotta be the sempron i had a celeron and they are really bad also the sempron would be slightly better for gaming.

why not go AM2 ? you can get an AM2 sempron 2800 for £35 :) unless youve already got the memory in which case go with the 754 sempron

hi locutus, will go 30-40 over my budget. would it be really worth it? i mean its just gonna be used for the internet, database and a few simple applications.

changing chip to sempron 3100, it has 256kb l2 cache so should be a lot better then the 3000

whats your budget ?

Asrock AM2NF4G-SATA2 AM2, (Nforce 4 board, reliable, stable, good clocker if you ever decide to, good reputation and cheap, also they are made by ASUS) £49.29inc. VAT

AMD Sempron 2800 Socket AM2 (Manila) Processor - Retail - £34.02inc. VAT

its more up to date, more modern features, DDR2 is always a plus, and im sure its not that much more than what your looking at... :)

anyway, its just a thought :)

not too bad i thought the motherboard would cost a lot.

would a standard 350w atx psu work with it?

oh god yes :)

its a micro ATX board too and also has an Nvidia 6100 built it should you wish to use it, saves on the pennies if your just after an el cheapo graphico experience for desktop usage.
